On May 15th the final version of the FAA Reauthorization Bill was passed by the House and signed by the President. In a nutshell, there will be a process for requesting higher authorized altitudes in Class G airspace, requires FAA to coordinate with Community Based Organizations (AMA), allowance for flight above 400 feet operations authorized by the FAA Administrator, better clarifies large model operations, requires FAA to prioritize FRIA areas for review and adjudication, allows education institutions to fly under recreational rules and extends the Know Before You Fly funding through 2028. For more information visit the AMA Government Relations blog or you can download the rule from the Federal Register. You are also encouraged to review the FAA Resources links available in our Newsletter Menu links.

Spirit of Selinsgrove Reunion On The Move
After many years of hosting the Spirit of Selinsgrove Reunion, the Aeroguidance Society has decided to pass the torch to a new host club. The Valley Forge Signal Seekers of Valley Forge, PA have agreed to host the 35th annual Spirit of Selinsgrove Reunion at their flying site in the Valley Forge National Park on August 31st and September 1st. The first Spirit of Selinsgrove Reunion was created shortly after the formation of the Vintage Radio Control Society and held at its original location, the Selinsgrove airport. When attendance outgrew the airport, the event moved to the Ft. Indiantown Gap Pennsylvania Army National Guard facility, Lums Pond State Park in Delaware and eventually to Owego, NY.
Event director Chad Hill and the Signal Seekers are offering a full two days of flying in this most hallowed ground where George Washington and his Colonial forces camped during the cold winter of 1777 – 1778. Pre-registration is required due to Park policies. You can find more information on the published flyer on the website and in The Vintage Flier. Thank you Aeroguidance Society for your years of support to VRCS and the Signal Seekers for continuing this annual traditional event celebrating the early days of radio control.
